Life never waits for you to be ready.

Early this morning I saw the news about the Hong Kong fire — 44 people have already lost their lives, and the number is still rising. It’s the kind of news that just leaves you sad and helpless. Life doesn’t wait for you to be ready — sometimes someone is simply gone.

These past few years, I’ve seen too many similar things happen around me. And sometimes I can’t help but ask myself: If one day it were me, what regrets would I have? If I had to compress my thirty-something years into one sentence, would I actually be satisfied with it?

I hope the victims rest in peace. And at the same time, I want to remind myself: Don’t treat any day as guaranteed. Try to live a little more honestly, a little more intentionally. At the very least, don’t let the person I am today be someone the future me can’t forgive.
